Bit of a tangential comment. I’m a lawyer and a union rep and I work for a union that represents lawyers. So I’m really interested in the intersection of these things. The union in the post office should rightly come in first scrutiny and criticism. I was listening to a couple of Tortoise podcasts about the Fed - the police quasi-union. While there are lots of groups wanting to say their issue is like the post office scandal, and generally, the circumstances are nothing like the same- I did see a lot of similarities between the Fed and the PO National Federation of sub-post masters in their culture and attitudes. As these bodies are connected with actors in the justice system - while it’s not really your patch Richard - I wonder if someone is doing some similar ethics research in that space - and I hope so!

Bar Standards Board "Core Duties" While we wait for the police to prosecute... ..anyone can register a "concern" about a barrister's compliance with their "Core Duties" (CDs). CD3 for example "to act with honesty and integrity", CD3 "not... diminish trust and confidence.. of the public in the profession" R v Seema Mistry might be worthy of attention T20090070

BSB might reply that they have taken no action against any barrister so far... you might challenge that. And the BSB has oversight of Barristers delegated to it from the Bar Council. You may ask the Bar Council if BSB is a competent overseer of barristers. Links and emails below.
