It was a bizarre game. The system had limited itself to half a chess set and was playing by the rules of draughts. Perhaps there is a case for complex or novel technical issues to be looked at in a separate, neutral process before proceedings start, drawing on best practice. It might stop so much of vital importance being shunted into a zone of irrelevance.
